The Sitting Pretty label was born in 2009 by Emma Longden. Her inspiration came whist traveling and being exposed to various styles around the globe. The brand is largely inspired by vintage. The style is classic and simple with an edgy twist. The aim is to keep the garments as versatile as possible, to be dressed up or down. Constantly striving to keep the label fresh and quality is the most important.
Natural fabrics are used as much as possible – cottons, linens and rayon. Fabrics are sourced locally and made used three local CMT’s in Cape Town.
The flagship store was opened just off Long Street in December 2009, and since moved to a beautiful space at 111 Long Street. The store is stocked with various other South African designers as well as the Sitting Pretty brand. Maria is the super-talented sample hand who works from the store and provides the service of alterations for customers.
